The QMC Cancer Walk (Marie A. Curry Walk)

The Marie A. Curry Fund was established by QMC Chairman of the Board Robert "Bob" Curry in memory of his late wife Marie Curry, who died of breast cancer in 1995. The Fund provides free cancer screening to uninsured or underinsured women and men on the South Shore.

Sponsored each year by Quincy Medical Center (QMC) and the Mayor's Commission on Women in Quincy, this walk is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Funds raised provide critical cancer screening and services at QMC for men and women who are uninsured and without adequate health insurance coverage.

The 10th Annual QMC Cancer Walk (Marie Curry Walk) will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2007. The four-mile, leisurely Walk begins and ends at Pageant Field in Merrymount Park, Quincy, and follows an ocean-lined route along Quincy Shore Drive. Event registration begins at 8:00 am, and the walk begins at 9:30 am. The festivities will culminate with a special post-walk celebration at Pageant Field, including lunch sponsored by the Outback Steakhouse in Quincy.
